Early terracotta bust of the Nok culture (c. 500 BCE-200 CE), bearing the distinctive “Negroid” features of the Niger-Congo/Nilo-Saharan peoples. The statue's broad and flat nose, everted lips and prognathism are markedly unlike the “Caucasoid” countenances of the sculptures made by the ancient Egyptians, Puntites and other Afro-Asiatic-speaking populations.
